Ground rules

This gallery is full of pictures of real people who go here. That is the whole point of it, and it is also the reason it has rules.

This is the short version, written for someone about to take a picture. The full rules for this space, and the platform-wide ones they sit on top of, are in the VGGallery community guidelines.

If you are in a photo and would rather not be

Open the album or the piece and use the report control, then pick That's me, please take it down. You do not have to explain, and nobody will ask you to. A curator takes it down. If you would rather not use the form, tell the yearbook adviser or any curator and they will do it for you.

What the crew shoots

• Events and public moments on campus: games, rallies, performances, club days, the everyday parts of a school day.
• Check the photo opt-out list before you publish. The yearbook already keeps one, and it applies here too.
• No names in a caption unless the person said yes. "Number 12 goes up for the block" is a caption. A full name is a decision.
• Nothing shot through a window, into a locker room, or anywhere someone would reasonably expect not to be photographed.
• If someone asks you not to take their picture, do not take their picture. If they ask afterwards, delete it.

What the platform does on its own

• Location data is stripped from every upload. Phones write GPS coordinates, a device serial, and a hidden second copy of the photo into the file. All of it is removed on the way in, before the picture is stored, and none of it is kept anywhere.
• Everything starts school-only. A photo is visible to signed-in Spartans and nobody else unless a curator deliberately makes an album public, or an artist makes their own piece public.
• Everything is checked before it appears. Photos and captions both go through the safety checks, and nothing shows on a wall until they clear.
• There is no face tagging here, and there never will be. No name-to-face index of students exists on this platform.
• There are no comments on campus photos. Reactions, yes. A comment box under a photo of a classmate, no.

Putting your own work up

• The Arts wall is yours. Any Spartan can post their own drawings, paintings, digital work, or photographs of things they made.
• Post your own work only. Reposting someone else's art, with or without credit, gets taken down.
• If your piece is a photograph of a person, the same rules above apply to it.
• You choose whether your piece is school-only or public, and you can change your mind whenever you like.

If something is wrong

Report it. Every photo and every album has a report control, it goes straight to the curators and the admins, and it stays private from whoever posted it.
